The Night Caller - DVD
Tony works as a taxi driver on the late-night shift in Liverpool.
His days have become repetitive; heâs a reserved character who is seldom noticed by those around him. Visions of bubbles underwater and an awkward encounter with a fare, begin to reveal that Tony is haunted by something in his past.
Every evening Tony listens to Night Talk, a late-night phone in radio show hosted by Lawrence Brightway, a presenter whose views and rapport he hugely admires. One day Tony plucks up the courage to ring Lawrence on-air and soon becomes a "friend of the showâ - for the first time in years, he feels listened to.
But, as time passes, he starts to interpret Lawrenceâs âworldviewâ in dangerous ways. The relationship grows into an unhealthy obsession for Tony, until he comes to the realisation that the real Lawrence isnât the man he purports to be.
Written by Nick Saltrese (A Prayer Before Dying) and starring Robert Glenister, Stephen Walters, Suzanne Packer and Sean Pertwee.
